Liebster Award--Thank you My Doll Stories!

Thank you My Doll stories for nominating me. I always enjoy this award and the questions that are presented. If you haven't had a chance to read her responses, check them out here.

1.   What was the first doll or figure that started your collection?T
The first was Byron Lars, "In the Limelight" Barbie. I love her from her head to her toes! Her smile shows her confidence.

2.    Do you take your dolls out in public to take photos?
Yes and I always get a kicked out of it too. Some people find it hard to believe there are many shades of brown dolls available.

3.    What are you looking forward to in 2016?
Hmm, keep my anemia under control, it been giving me the flukes lately. I hope to add a few Integrity dolls to Dotsville. I also want to create more, especially for the men.

4.    Do you have a favorite doll in your collection?
Right now Scarlett is in her jealous mode. I am in love with her sister Lauren, who you will meet next week.

5.    Do you have a favorite doll brand?
Not any more. So not happy with Mattel and why they choose to limit AA dols. It a whole market share they are missing out on.

6.    Do you get dolly items gifted to you from family or friends?
Yes, my sister sends my vintage sewing patterns, recycle items whenever she runs across them.

7.   Do you name every doll you own?
Ahh, yes.  When I first look at a doll and I decided when they will be coming to Dotsville. Once I have them and look at them their name just come to me and fits them quite well.

8.   You can have any doll maker make the doll of your dreams. What does it look like?
Exactly like me! A exquisite porcelain doll that fully articulate right down to her toes. Dressed in a couture ensemble from The house of Dior. Hat, purse and shoes perfectly coordinated to match the outfit and jewelry by Tiffany, of course.  She has to be so perfectly crafted that the Queen of England would want one!

9.   How old were you when you received your first doll? What happened to her?
It was a Baby Tender Love doll as well as her case. She is in my mother basement or somewhere in the attic, but I still have her. The case is long gone but I still have her and her name was Baby. I had this thing when I was younger that I refused to throw away, share or give up my black dolls and I didn't. My parent must of known if I didn't have positive images of me growing up, I was going to be a militant!

10. What is your 2016 doll wish list?
I hope to own IT Jem and the Holograms Anthony Julian. He's hot and he carries both my brother and nephew names.

11. What sort of aesthetics do you look for in a doll?
For me, it would be their face mold. I believe all dolls have a "look" that makes you want to include them in your collection. Although some come with great fashions it would be their face that speaks to me.

    1. Thank you. I always wonder what makes a person love a particular doll so much more than other that is the only one the purchase over and over again.

  5. Interesting questions and answers! I discovered I have a few things in common with you, Brini. I've been out in public with my dolls (although I am NEVER comfortable). A few times I have received dolls as gifts. But other than the one my dad gives me for Christmas (which I choose and order), I'd rather non-doll people NOT give me dolls because...they don't get it and I end up with something I don't collect. I, too name each and every doll who comes into my home. I also have a roster, complete with pix so I know who's who! Thank you for nominating me. My responses will be up soon.

    1. Take your time with your response because I know they will be good. I do believe dolls have a personality that make you want to add to your collection and of course name them. Some names I change but the majority of them, I name. As for the non-doll people I know exactly what you mean. I had one coworker who loved Barbie because of her daughter and she wanted to know why do I still purchase dolls if I had a son. I just told her to stop because we are not going to have this conversation, lol.

  6. Interesting answers, Brini! I agree that a doll's face has to "speak to me" in order to join my crew. I have to see the doll's character and how s/he will fit in around here. I hope you're able to get an Anthony Julian for your collection.
